ROAD CYCLE RACE.
PALMERSTON NORTH TO PETONE,
Nearly eighty riders have entered for the Palmerston North to Petone cycle road race, Avhicli is to be held in conjunction Avitli the 100 miles NeAV Zealand road cycling championship. The handicaps for the contest, which is to bo held on Saturday, have been declared by Mr M. Matson, liandicappor for the AVellington Amateur Cycling Centre. Among those avlio have entered are a number of Christchurch riders, fiv'e of whom—F. Grose, J. L. Richards, J. Taylor, M. Gamble, and R. BlakeAvay—are on the scratch mark with O. Disley (Wellington), Avho secured fastest time last year, and J. AVade (AVanganui). C. Ericsson (Wellington) has tin, distinction of being the only competitor AA’ho rode in the original race in 1926. He is on the 30min mark. The oldest competitors are R. Flutey (Otaki), aged 58, and H. M. Hammond (Levin), aged 64, avlio have the limit start of 60min. AVinners of previous races, AV.
