B ENGLISH FOOTBALL STARS.
LONDON, Sept. 23. That £12,000 was rejected for an Association footballer is revealed by the Daily Mail, which declares that money cannot buy talent this season. Clubs willing to pay. enormous transfer fees are thwarted because- stars are too difficult to replace. Arsenal spent £30,000 last year on players and has now unsuccessfully bid £12,000 for Watsoii, a Hearts of Midlothian player. Liverpool rejected £13,000 for ‘two inside forwards and Fulham £IB,OOO for three men. Blackburn declined £BOOO for a centre-for-ward. Tottenham Hotspurs directly sought 12 players unsuccessfully.
