Mr Myers says the lists are unlikely to escape criticism. They contain several surprises based on personal observation in Europe, America, and Australia.

TENNIS IN AMERICA. BUDGE BEATS SHIELDS. LOS ANGELES, Sept, 22. In the men’s singles final in the Pacific South-West tennis tournament, J. D. Budge beat F. X. Shields, 7—o, 6—3, 6—4. In a semi-final of the women’s fcingles Miss Stammers (Britain) beat Mi's Babcock, 6—3, 6—2. In the quar-ter-finals Miss James (Britain) beat Miss Gracyn Wheeler (Santa Monica), 9—7, 3—6, 7—5; Miss Stammers beat Mrs Van Ryn, 6—4, 6—2. / In a semi-final of the men’s doubles, Allison and Van Ryn heat Boussus and Brugnon (France), 6—4, 7—9, 6—4.

MISS STAMMERS BEATEN. Received September 23, 10.45 a.m. LOS ANGELES, Sept. 23. In the tennis final, Miss Arnold beat Miss K. Stammers, 6—l, 6—4. CHINESE INTERNATIONAL. DISCOVERY OF BODY. NEW YORK, Sept. 22. The body of Wing Lock Wei, aged 43, an international tennis player and eeveral times captain of the Chinese Davis Cup team, was found floating in the Hudson River off Greenwich Village Docks to-day. According to friends lie disappeared 24 hours before the body was found. A preliminary investigation failed to reveal whether he had committed suicide or whether lie was the victim of an eccident or foul play. The police understand he was a son of the late Bosham Wei, former Chinese Minister in London.
