MAR TON, Sept 21. The Marton Methodist Church tvas the scene of a very pretty wedding on Wednesday, tho contracting parties firing Bettv. only daughter of Mr and Mrs H. Batclielar, of Marton and Ernest John, younger son of Mr It. tenno, and the late Mrs Penno, of Morvcn. South Canterbury. Mr A. C. Downey, recently or the Marton Post Office'and now of Arainoho, who has been ill in the \\ anganui Hosptal. is now well on the road to recovery. . The fortnightly meeting of the M.TT.T.0.0.F. Lodge was held last evening. One new member was admitted. Reports showed that one member was on the sick list suffering from accidental injuries. The corresp'ondence included a request for assistance from a member, and the matter was left in the secretary’s hands to deal with.. A letter is to he sent to Bro. E. J. Penno congratulating him on his marriage, and wishing him and his wife every happiness. A vacancy on the investigation committee was filled by tho appointment of Bro. J. I. Clarke MARTON, Sept. 23. The race for the trophy presented by Mr A. J. Holden to the Marton Harrier Club was held on Saturday, there being 12 starters. The race resulted : A. Gorrie 1, M. Griffin 2. J. Tavlor 3. Fastest time honours were shared by F. Hill and G. Bromley. Mrs C. B. Fullerton-Smith, of the Waikato, is visiting her mother. Mrs G. B. Baldwin, Upper Tutaenui. Marton. Miss Betty Theed is spending a holiday in Marton with her mother, Mrs A. V. Theed. Mr and Mrs. R. PSherriff, who have been spending a holiday at Waikanae, have returned home.
