AGED BRITISH ARMY MAN.

The oldest soldier of the Durham Light Infantry, ex-Corporal George Dav, of Chaucer Road Ashford, Middlesex, a survivor of the British army which fought in the Maori Var from 1863 to 1866. has been dramatically brought into touch again with his old regiment, states the Newcastle-on- Tyne Evening Chroncile. Captain R. J. Appleby, of the Durham Light Infantry Depot, Newcastle, received a letter from a friend of this veteran of the “Faithful Dulhams informing him that Day had entered his 99tli. year and that, although totally blind and confined to h,s bed, he was anxious for news concerning his old regiment and always had near him the medals he won in campaigns of last Immediately Captain Appleby got into touch with Day’s relatives and a parcel was despatched to the veteran.
