I’AHIATUA, Sept. 23. Messrs P. Allen and ±4. Done, residents of ivtakairo, rvero tendered a farewell recently. Air Allen is now living at KimLiolton and Mr Done in the Waikato. Mr J. Hutton presided at tho annual mhetihg ot the Pahiatua Anglers’ Club. Air Hutton suggested that tho club invite the Governor-General and his aide-de-camp to the district to fish. There was as good fishing to be had in this district as anywhere. It was decided that if tho fishing was good this season an invitation be sent. Air G. L. ytalford took exception to a statement made recently as to the pollution of streams by dairy factories. Alany anglers were also farmers, he said. It was not necessary for the factories to pollute the streams. Mr W. Beales also spoke on the question in support of Air Stafford. Mr Verry said that the first duty of anglers was to keep the rivers clean. Factories were under compulsion to got rid of thouwaste products. He said at times lie had seen dead fish in all rivers, often well above any factory. The factories however, felt they were being penalised unduly.
