BAINESSE.

(From Our Own Correspondent.) BAINESSE, Sept. 23.

Farmers have been taking full advantage of the beautiful weather of the past few days, and fanning operations, which have been greatly delayed, owing to the continual heavy rains and the wet state of the ground, are now going in lull swing. Garden enthusiasts are also making much of the more seasonable weather, as it has not been possible to make much progress in this direction. The spring flowers in the gardens are now blooming in profusion and make a very pretty showing. Colonel Closer, Dominion organiser for the Douglas Social Credit movement, visited Bainesse lost week and gave an address. The attendance, however, was small owing to the inclemency of the weather.

The School Committee have found it necessary to forgo the usual fortnightly entertainments for some time past owing to numerous counter attractions in the surrounding districts. However, it is hoped that these entertainments may shortly be resumed so that money may be raised for the picnic fund. The friends of Airs Thessrnan, Senr., late of Ashhurst, who is at present residing with her son, Air A. Thessrnan, will regret to hear that her health has lately _ been causing her relatives concern. Airs Franklin, of Palmerston North, is visiting her brother, Air A. Thessrnan. Airs ’i. Robertson, is at present on a visit to her daughter, Airs L. Burling, of Oroua Downs. Air and Airs J. Mullan, of Shannon, wore visitors to Bainesse during the week-end. Aiiss Joan Legg, who has been visiting her parents, has returned to Feilding. Air G. Caskc. spent the week-end with ids parents, Air and Airs E. Caskc. AJiss Eunice Caskc has returned from Levin, where she has been spending a holiday. Air J. Thessrnan, of Wellington, was a recent visitor to Bainesse.
