CHRISTIAN SCIENCE CHURCHES.
“Matter” was the subject- of the Lesson-Sermon in all Churches ot Christ, Scientist, on Sunday. The Golden Text was Joel 2:1: “Blow ye the trumpet in Zion, and sound an alarm in my'holy mountain: let all the inhabitants' of the land tremble; for the day of the Lord Cometh, for it is nigh at hand.” Among the citations which comprised the Lesson-Sermon were the following from the Bible: “They that make a grave nimage are all of them vanity; and their delectable things shall not profit: and they are their own witnesses ; "they see not, nor know; that they may be ashamed. No mail can serve two masters. . . .Ye cannot serve God and mammon.” (Tsa. 44:9, Matt. 7 :24). Also the following passages from the Christian Science textbook, “Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures” by Mary Baker Eddy: “Matter is an error of statement. This error in the premise leads to errors in every statement into which it' enters. Nothing we can say or believe regarding matter is immortal, for matter is temporal and is therefore a mortal phenomenon, a human concept, sometimes beautiful, always erroneous.” (p. 277).
