TRIO ARRESTED

Advice lias been received here that the Formosan police have arrested two Americans and one German, named Gates, Wrede, and Roubin respectively, on a charge of violating the Shipping Act, also entering a fortified zone without authority. The trio left Shanghai recently in a small sailing boat for a long cruise, touching at the Philippines, New Guinea, and possibly Australia, and eventually proceeding to Cocos Island. They were seeking the salvage of alleged gold cargo said to he sunk there. The Formosan authorities, however, claim that the Americans were really naval officers who were caught photographing a fortified zone.
