THE AIR ROUTES.
NEW PLYMOUTH OBJECTION. Per Press Association. NEW PLYMOUTH, Feb. 12. A special meeting ot the Taranaki Chamber of Commerce this morning met representatives of the New Plymouth Airport Board to discuss the applications for air transport licenses submitted to the Transport Co-ordina-tion Board. Yesterday the Air Port Board expressed disapproval of the proposal to operate a trunk air service between Palmerston North and Dunedin, and stressed the point that if a license was granted at all it should be for a trunk service from Auckland to Invercargill. Special attention was drawn to the Transport Board’s statement lliafc “we can at this juncture indicate that in our opinion the most important trunk route would be between Palmerston North and Dunedin.” At to-day’s meeting objection was taken to the proposal lor the elimination of Auckland and Taranaki. it was resolved that the chamber arrange for representations by the Borough Council, the Air Port Board, and the chamber to be placed before the Transport Co-ordination Board at the adjourned sitting on March 6. Representatives will visit Wellington.
