LINTON

(From Our Own Correspondent.) LINTON, Nov. 12. The November meeting of the Women’s Instituie was held on Friday, when Mrs T. Lynch presided over a fair attendance. Several members were absent owing to sickness. Discussions arose on the next month’s competition, when it was decided to have contests for the best six blooms (different varieties, arranged in a jam jar), also the best decorated jam jar of sweet peas. The competition is for the licet Christmas novelty not costing more than two shillings, also for a jam rod. Mrs Lynch introduced Mrs Galland, who gave a demonstration on floral work for which she was accorded a vote of thanks. Afternoon tea was served by the hostesses, Meedame<3 Stewart and Sheridan, and Miss B. Currin. Mrs Moycs, who was a delegate to the halfyearly council meeting held recently at Levin, read a very interesting report. The competition for the day was for articles, uselul and ornamental, made from 1 yard of cretonne. The winners were Mrs Sheridan 1, Mrs Sheridan 2, Mrs L. Craw 3. An amusing competition, for the most- articles packed in a slide match box, was won by Miss K. Young 1 (96), Miss B. Currin 2 (88), Mrs L. Craw 3. Miss Vaulking, of Silverhope, is the guest of Mrs Stewart. Miss J. Copeland, of Wellington, is visiting Linton as tho guest of Mr and Mrs C. Copeland. Mr and Mrs C. Wilson, of New Plymouth, are visiting Linton.
