HARD LABOUR SENTENCE.
Per Press Association. CHRISTCHURCH, Nov. 12. A wild affray in a suburban house was described in the Police Court to-day when Frederick James Jones, a fisli-mone-er aged 40, was charged with assaulting John Henry O’Callaghan and also his own wile, from whom he was separated, and who is Mi O Calhousekeeper. The police said K JoJ went lo Mr O’Callghan’s tnat noil consumed some liquor, and” announced his intention to murder Jones attempted to separate the fighters, but accused
seized a walking stick with which he beat Mr O’Callaghan. Blood spurted from Mr O’Callaglian’s head and attei much fighting Mrs Jones secured Die stick and attacked Jones. The stick was broken and when police officers arrived the building resembled a slaughterhouse, added the senior sergeant. Jones was being held down by Mr O’Callaghan and Mrs Jones . Jones was sentenced to three months hard labour.
