During a storm which swept the Horsham district, lightning struck and killed Johann Gross, aged 50, and a man named Voight, aged about , 30, and seriously injured a third man, who was sheltering under a tree. Terrific thunderstorms swept the Mallee and Wimmera districts. There were cloudbursts at several places. Crops were flattened and houses and shops flooded. Four women and two children were injured from flying iron and glass. Adelaide reports that torrential rain flooded the city and suburbs. Creeks from the hills overflowed and low-lying suburbs were inundated. In soldiers’ homes in Wayville West the water is two to three feet deep.
