MINISTER AS CHAIRMAN
OF AGRICULTURAL EXECUTIVE
AMENDMENTS TO THE BILL.
fßv Telegraph.—Special to Standard.) WELLINGTON, Nov. 8. Amendments to the Agricultural (Emergency Powers) Bill will be introduced in the House 'of Represntatives to-night if the conclusion of the Native affairs debate gives the Government its opportunity. The principal change is in relation to the constitution of the Executive Commission of Agriculture, which is to consist of the Minister of Agriculture with three other members appointed for five years, at least two .having been actively engaged as producers in some branch of primary production, or who have been actively engaged otherwise than as producers in the manufacture and marketing of primary products or in some undertaking closely associated with the production, manufacture, export or marketing of primary products. The Executive Commission, according to another variation from the original Bill, is to exercise consultative powers with the existing boards. The Government has followed the precedent of the Unemployment Board in adopting these amendments, as the Minister of Employment is _ chairman and one full-time member is deputychairman, the Minister himself frequently participating in the board s deliberations.
