TENNIS TOURISTS. MATCHES AT ROTORUA. Per Press Association. nn ... ROTORUA, Nov. 7. the visiting English tennis players played exhibition matches at Rotorua to-day, but unfortunately part of the

programme had to be abandoned owing to rain.

In two straight sets Hughes beat Perry, 7—5, 6 —3, after an exhibition in which Hughes appeared to be on the top of his form, but Perry was patchy. Neither his backhand nor his forehand was entirely reliable and Hughes won on his mistakes.

In a women’s doubles match, Miss Dorothy Round, playing with Miss N. Beverley (Matamata), was beaten by Misses Dearman and Lyle, 6 —2, 7 —5. The team left this evening for "Wellington.
