SWEDISH HISTORY.

SALVAGE OF OLD SHIP. Researches have been undertaken to discover the remains of the cara.vel, the Elephant, built between 1554 and 1559 in the reign of Gustavus Vasa and which, after having been for some years the flag ship of the Swedish fleet, sank outside tho former war port of Bjorkenas. The parts of the boat which have been salvaged have been transported to Stockholm where they will be reconstructed and will constitute tho finest ornament of the Afaritime Museum which it is proposed to instal. Italy has her galleys of Caligula; Sweden will have her flagship of the 16th century.
