BUTTER MARKET BRISK. Joseph Nathan and Coy., Ltd., have received from London the following cabled advice, dated November 5: New Zealand butter: Finest, 76b to 775; first, 74s to 755. Brisk. New Zealand cheese: White, 54s 6d; coloured, 545. Firm. Last month New Zealand butter was selling at the record low level of 63s for first grade and 65s for first. PREMIUM ON VACUUM CHEESE. Mr J. A. Nash, M.P., who is chairman of the New Zealand Farmers’ Dairy Union, has received advice from the new London Vacuum Products Co., that a shipment of export cheese of first grade, ex the Akaroa, has been sold at 71s, although the price for ordinary New Zealand cheese at the time of clearing the cargo was 495, showing a margin of 22s pier cwt plus exchange, which brings it to 28s. The new company has been registered with a capital of £250,000, and Sir Thomas Wilford is chairman of directors. PAHIATUA CATTLE FAIR. PIHIATUA, Nov. 6. Competition throughout the . Pahiatua cattle fair yesterday was keen, particularly for yearling steers and female cattle. Included in the New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Co., LtdVs yarding were several lots of outstanding bullocks, an entry of 30 three-year-old Herefords on account of the Balfour Estate being one of the best seen in this yard for many years. Following is the firm’s range of prices: -Three-year Hereford steers, £6 7s; four-year bullocks, £5 18s 6d to £6 8s; three-year bullocks, £5 9s; three-year P.A. steers, £5 11s to £5 17s Gd; four-year P.A._ steers, £5 los; three-year steers, £4 16s to £5 12s; four-year steers, £6; three-year steers, £5 15s; two-year steers, £4 Is to £4 11s; two-year Hereford steers, £4 4s; two-year P.A. steers, £4 ss; two-year Hereford heifers, £3 8s; three-year P.A. heifers, £4 Is; twoyear P.A. heifers, £3 14s; yearling P.A. steers, £3 9s; yearling steers, £2 10s to £3. 7s; two-year heifers, £2 I7s 6d; yearling heifers, £2 3s; fat cows and heifers, £5 11s; empty cows, £3 15s.
Dalgety and Co,, Ltd., offered a full yarding at the fair, all offerings coining forward in splendid order, being particularly well-bred run cattle. The firm effected an almost iV.'ai clears nee at the following range: —Bullocks, £3 12s 6d to £6 8s; three-year steers, £4 9s to £5 11s; two-year steers, £3 8s to £4 4s; yearling steers, £2 8s to £3 14s; store cows. £2 7s to £3 10s; cows and heifers, £3 2s; cows and calves, £4 2s; two-year heifers, £2 ss; yearling heifers, £2 to £2 10s.
