COMPANY LEGISLATION.
NEW SOUTH WALES BILL
SYDNEY, Nov. 6. The Legislative Council to-night passed the Companies Receiver and Manager Bill, the Labour group offering no opposition. However, Mr Martin, a Labourite, criticised the Government’s “indecent haste” in rushing the measure through. He suggested there must be something sinister behind tlie Attor-ney-General’s action last week when appealing personally to the Leader of the Opposition (Mr J. T. Lang) to offer no opposition. Apparently the financial interests behind the Government were anxious to suppress the McArthur group. Mr Martin added lie was quite sure there would have been plenty of money available as the price of Labour’s silence in connection with this measure. The Attorney-General (Mr Manning) hotly repudiated the suggestion.
