Villagers of Kormakiti, in Cyprus, are descended from Alaroinites, w.ho fled from Syria during the Crusades. Their Ai-abic has since become so mingled with Greek and Turkish that now neither Syrians nor Cypriots can understand it, and interpreters are necessary when the villagers trade with other parts of the island.
