FREE AMBULANCE.

MONTHLY MEETING. Major J- T. Bosworth presided over the monthly meeting of tlie committee of the Palmerston North Free Amulanee, last evening, when there were also present Messrs Andrews, Jones, Reed, Woodfield, A. Lloyd (managing organiser) and O. L. Turnbull (secre-tary-treasurer). An apology for .absence through indisposition was received from Mr Rennie. The managing organiser reported that tlie collections for the past month had been satisfactory in spite of the holidays which intervened and the effects of the earthquake. During the month 68 cases had been attended to, including 49 medical and 14 accident cases. The chairman said that it was most gratifying to know that the work being done was appreciated by the public. There could not be any more satisfactory proof of this than the letters of thanks which had been received from those who had received attention. The work was steadily increasing and the unselfish assistance rendered by the staff of the ambulance undoubtedly was appreciated. The chairman extended to alf supporters of the service the committee’s thanks for the support being extended to the service. “Although circumstances are unfavourable,” concluded the chairman, “the financial assistance which is being given is almost beyond comprehension. The fact that the public appreciate the service as a very necessary reform cannot be denied.”
