BOWLING

MANAAVATU' CENTRE EXECUTIVE.

EXPENSES OF TOURNAMENT,

Matters in connection with the recent Easter rinks tournament were discussed at a meeting of the executive of the Manawatu Rowling Centre, yesterday afternoon. Mr J. A. Nash, M.P., presided, others present being Messrs P. S. Larcomb, A. Cooksley, J. AI. Gordon, J. J. O’Shea, J. K. Paton, N. H. Nash and A. E. Wimsett (lion. secretary). The balanco-shee't for the fixture was submitted, showing an estimated credit of £2 3s 7d, exclusive of overhead expenses. Mr Larcomb said that when these were taken into consideration, a substantial loss would be shown.

Commenting on the catering arrangements, Mr Paton said that during the tournament upwards of 1000 persons were served with morning or afternoon tea at the Palmerston North green. Asked what funds were in hand, Mr Wimett said there was an accumulated balance of £6O in one account, and £3O in the current account. Mr Larcomb said the funds had been built up for use in difficult times, and now was the occasion to draw on them. The chairman said he did not object to that, but they still wanted a reserve.

Mr N. H. Nash produced a letter of appreciation written by the Hastings skip, Mr J. E. Hall, congratulating all concerned on an excellent North Island tournament, stating that the visitors had met with every kindness, and that they had enjoyed every moment of their stay. Tournament accounts were passed for payment. Arrangements for tho visit to Palmerston North on Wednesday by 16 rinks from the Wellington Centre were also discussed. It was stated that they would arrive by bus, and play would begin at 2 p.m. on the Palmerston North and Takaro greens, the games probably being over 26 heads. Each local player is to pay 2s. Manawatu Centre rinks were allocated as follow:

Palmerston North green. —Three Palmerston North rinks and one each from Terrace End, Levin, Foxton, Manawatu and AVoodville.

Takaro green.—Two Palmerston North rinks, and one each from Northern, Terrace End, Manakau, Takaro, Feilding and Bulls.
