NATIONS IN CONFERENCE. (Times Cables.) ROME, April 6. Th© sittings of the International Wheat Committee have opened. The committee is seeking an agreement to l-aise the price by reducing exports or not selling abroad below a predetermined price. The discussions denote progress toward implementing a wheat agreement. In a report on the crop situation, it was revealed that the American carryover would probably amount to 100,000,000 bushels.

The Australian wheat area will probably he reduced; Argentina is not restricting cultivation; Canadian sowings will be 15 per cent lower; Russia is substituting wheat for rye; Germany has a slightly reduced area. Britain’s increase in area of six per cent would lead to a pro rata reduction of subsidy.
