TEACHERS’ GRADING

TWO HEAD LIST. WELLINGTON, April 6. The grading and classification of teachers in the educational service is announced in a special Gazette issued last evening. This list, which is required by statute, is issued at the beginning of April in each year. It is divided into two parts, the first giving the names of teachers in alphabetical order, and the second the order of merit in which teachers have been placed by the grading officers. Two teachers from the Canterbury district are graded No. 1. at the head of the list. They are Mr L. F. de Berry. M.A. (formerly of the Palmerston North Central School) and Mr W. C. Colee. M.A. Mr W. J. Wernham (Auckland) is the onlv teacher graded No. 2. No one ha.s a. place in grade No. 3. Of nine teachers in grade No. 4, four are from the Wellington district. They are Messrs O. A. Banner. J..C. Burns, j M.A., J. K. Edie and B. Kean.
