FROM STABLE AND COURSE.
(By “Binocular.”) Balbus continued his run of minor piacings by finishing third and second on the respective days at Wairarapa. His turn will come. What’s in a name 1 At Riverton a horse named Unseen was installed favourite for his race, but backers found at the conclusion of the event that lie was aptly named. In his track work Treasure Hunt has registered promising times on occusion without repeating the ciforts in his races. However, ho got on the winning list, at Tauhorenikau,_ and ho should show further improvement hi the future. While Lone Raider won a race at Ricearton, it is not unlikely that ho proved to bo an expensive horso to backers around this district. His dividend when he scored was a disappointing one, and those who again supported him on the second day would not find the investment profitable. Celebrate, who won tho Coogco Handicap at Randwick, beating J. T. Jamieson’s representative Persian, is a Magpie gelding who is owned and trained by the former New' Zealand trotting enthusiast, P. Riddle. Sir Simper, owned by Mr W. T. Hazlett, of Invercargill, wen tho Threo-Yoar-Oid Handicap of £350, ono mile, at Williams* town on Monday. Sir Simper is a chestnut colt by Grand Knight from Simper. Northern reports mention that Boughal, Lion Heart, and Sirona will probably be taken across to Australia for the spring racing. The Otaki mentor, A. 1). Webster, is making ready for another assault on Australian shores, while the Dominion will be all the poorer by tho departure of another brigade of Mr W. R. Kcmball’s horses. Tho grey Hunting Song gelding Al'aunah registered a very easy win over six furlongs at Mooneo Valley last month. He is now owned and trained by T. McGrath. As Araunah is slated to have won easily ail tho way despite lack of racing, Hi should add to his account again.
