PALMERSTON NORTH GARRISON BAND.
(To the Editor.) Sir,- —In connection with the recent success of the Palmerston North Garrison Band, I wish to offer my personal congratulations to the conductor, Mr C. Pike. I would also like to congratulate Drum-Major Dennison on his success in bringing tire band to that state of perfection which enabled it to obtain fourth place in military points in the quickstep. Congratulations are also due to Mr Ron Woods in gaining first place in the boys’ solo competition. I have heard that Mr J. B. Thomson coached Mr Woods for this competition. If this is so surely some credit is due to him. It was "noticeable at the civic reception given to the band on its return from Wellington that neither Mr Dennison nor Mr Thomson was mentioned. This no doubt was an oversight, but I really think that these two men should receive credit for what they have done for the band. —I am, etc., ADMIRER OF BAND.
