(From Our Own Correspondent.) BULLS, Sept. 14. All-day play by the Ladies’ Golf Club on Thursday took place in fine, cool weather, and the standard of golf was very good, quite a number of ladies reducing their handicaps. In the morning a stroke competition was played, the best cards being as follow: Miss McKelvie, 90 —26 —64; Miss P. Perrett, 93—25—68; Mrs Gould, 104 —36 —68; Airs Shaw, 100—31—69; Mrs Dean, 90—19—71; Mrs Mackay, 88—16—72; Miss O. Wilson, 84—10—74; Miss P. Levctt, 101 —26—75; Miss O. Levctt, 101— 23—78. The best junior was Mrs Russell, 107—56—71. In the afternoon a foursome was played, the winners being Mrs Pearce and _ Miss McKelvie. An and putting competition was won by Miss McKenzie.

Directors of the Rangitikei Dairy Coy., Ltd., have decided to pay 9id per lb for August supplies of butterfat.

Tho monthly meeting of the Town Board was held on Thursday evening. Present: Messrs J. E. Walker (chairman), F. A. Holland, D. Lundy, C. M. Broughton, M. C. Gould, C. H. Edwards and C. C. Brice. The foreman (Mr S. Howard) reported on work done for the month ending September 14 as follows: All main roads have been graded with the county graders seven times; river metal has been spread on the main roads; a drainage well has been completed; the lower end of Hammond Street has been metalled; grass has been cut on the Domain; water sumps cleaned out, and holes filled on side of road in High Street. The main drain in High Street has been cleaned out, and wire-netting has been put on fence in Bridge Street. Baths have been kept cut at the cemetery, and the sexton’s duties have been carried out. Belief workers have been engaged cleaning about young trees on tho Domain and other work. Correspondence was read as follows: From a firm of builders applying for a permit to erect a residence in upper Bridge Street for Mrs F. J. Mansell; also an application for permission to erect a dwelling in Hammond Street for Mr G. Langdon. Both sets of plans having been approved by the health officer (Mr T. Pargeter), the applications were granted. •From tho Bulls School Committee, and from the Bulls Tennis Club, applying for men to work on their grounds. The works committee was instructed to attend to the applications, and to allot men when available. The foreman having so much business to attend to, particularly in connection with unemployment, it was decided to have his residence connected with the telephone). The board’s balance-sheet was returned from the Audit Department without a tag, upon which tho town clerk was complimented. ' Attention was drawn to the lights on the sides of the stage in the Town Hall, which were unprotected, and a source of annoyance to sections of the audience at the sides of the main hall. Mr Holland was thanked for his olTor to provide and ereot shades free of cost. Works Committee: The following were appointed for the ensuing months: Messrs Edwards, Gould and Price. Accounts were passed for payment as-follow: District fund, £B2 13s; cemetery, £1 2s; library, £2 12s. Collections !or the month were as follow: ltonts, £lB 10s; rates, £26 4e 8d; heavy traffic foes, £B2 14s 7d; cemetery, £23 15s; library, £3 6s 8d; Domain, £4 17s; total, £159 7s lid. It was reported that numerous golf balls wero loft lying about on the oval in the Sports Ground, and that there was danger of the grass mower being broken through picking up these balls. It was agreed that golfers should be asked to take more care, otherwise stops would have to bo taken to keep the oval clear, as those persons responsible might not liko to meet the heavy expense of mower repairs. The Bulls Cricket Club wrote thanking tho board for keeping tho oval in order during tho past season, and applied for permission to use the grounds during the coming summer months. The application was granted.
