RULE IN AUSTRIA.

CHANCELLOR STRENGTHENED. RELIGION IN THE ARMY. VIENNA, Sept. 15 The Heimwelir Fascists have decided unreservedly to accept Dr. Dolfuss’s leadership and incorporate the whole of their armed force in the Chancellor’s patriotic front, greatly strengthening his position. Their leader, Prince Starhemberg, will not now press for the suppression of the Social Democrats and the appointment of a State Commissioner. Vienna Social Democrats are issuing an appeal to the country, declaring their readiness to co-operate in the economic restoration of the nation. A remarkable order, indicative of the trend of Dr. Dolfuss’s policy has been issued by General Vaugoin on behalf of the Ministry of National Defence. It orders that a crucifix bo placed in every room in the army barracks and, in addition, that a picture of the Virgin Mary be embroidered on regimental colours and squadron banners throughout the army.
