(From Oar Own Correspondent.) BUNNYTHORPE, Feb. 9. The first monthly 1110011115- for the year of tho School Committee took place on Monday. Present: Messrs A. O'Donnell (chairman), D. Heggio, F. McKenzie and O. Jackson (secretary). The headmaster’s report showed a big falling off in the number on the roll since the opening of tho school, tho number being 78—a loss of 17 pupils. The visiting committee reported on the grounds. Mr O’Donnell was appointed the visiting committee for the month. The school excursion was dealt with and it. was decided to hold a combined meeting of district schools during the wook to take joint action and make arrangements. General business was considered and accounts passed for payment. On Wednesday aftornoon the Bunnythorpe and I’aonui Tennis Club’s lady players played a friendly match 011 the local courts, resulting in a win for tbe Bunnythorpe team by a fair margin. Afternoon tea was provided. Tho results are as follow, Bunnythorpe players being mentioned first: —Singles: Miss W. Hobson beat M>ss 11. Price 7—l; Miss K. Robson beat Miss F. Price 7 —4; Miss M. Godfrey beat Miss A. Heard 10—9; Mrs 0. Jackson beat Miss J. Bengo 7—3; Miss L. Gore beat Miss J. Cheatham 7—l; Miss O'Donnell beat Miss B. Cheatham 7 —5. Doubles: Misses W. and K Robson beat Misses R. and F. Price 7—4; Miss Godfrey and Mrs Jackson lost to Misses Heard and Benge 8 —10; Mrs Baker and Miss Scheldt beat Misses J. and B. Cheatham 7 —o; Misses Gore and O’Doiineil beut B. and J. Cheatham 7—l. Bunnythorpe; 9 sots, 74 games; Taonui, 1 set, 38 games. An all day cricket match was played on the Recreation ground betwoen Bunnythorpe and Taonui on Wednesday. Both teams batted two innings and the match resulted in a win for the Bunnythorpe team by 29 runs. The most successful bowler was Dunn for Taonui— B wickets for 20 —and O’Sullivan (Bunnythorpe)—s wickets for 5 runs. Luncheon and afternoon tea were provided anu a most enjoyable day spent.
