PAHIATUA.
PAHIATUA. Dec. 2. Ensign and Mrs Prowse and Miss Prowse left to-day on their annual holiday, which they will spend in the Taranaki district. During their absence the local Salvation Army services will be conducted by Envoys Pallant and Shearman, of Woodville, two ex-officera who were at one time stationed in Pahiatua. More than ordinary significance was attached to the annual congregational meeting of St. Paul’s Presbyterian Church, held_ last evening, as the question of the appointment of a new minister to the charge had also to be discussed.' Rev. J. Davie, of Knox Church, Masterton, and Moderator of the AVairarapa Presbytery, presided over an attendance of nearly eighty members, the Ballance district being particularly well represented. On the motion of Mr Bremner it was decided to revert to the original number of fifteen members for the board of management instead of nine which was resolved upon last year, the following country representatives were elected: Messrs J. Gibson and J. rl. Bremner (Balance), Mrs Fergus (Ru*. whata), W. S. Lett (Kautawa) R. Wade (Mangamutu), Stewart (Ngatun) and Gardner (Kohinui). The appointment for Nireaha was left open. It was .decided, after a protracted discussion, to allow tne Presbytery to settle Mr K. L. AA arren m the charge in succession to Kev. A. r. Sutherland, who recently went to ie Kuiti. Mr AV. Dailey, of Pahiatua grassed a tagged fish at Kumeroa on November 27, weighing lib 7oz; length, 15im, girth Biin. The fish was a Dannevirke release.
