YESTERDAY'S BUSINESS AITO PRICES. Dull and weak fairly describes the state of the- stock and sharo market, tho ircneral uncertainty of tho outlook tending to make investors very cautious. The demand yesterday was poorer than it has been for many weeks, but the list of selling quotations was a fairly heavy one. The only inquiry for Government securities was £97 for tho 5£ per cents., February and September, 1937. Holders of tho Septembor, 1937, stocks wore prepared to quit at £97 10s. There was littlo demand for local body debentures. Banks were extremely quiet, with an easing tondoncy. Commercial of Australia were again bid for at 14s, sellers roducing their margin to 3d New Zealand ordinaries weakened to a sale at 42s 3d late on Thursday. Sellers asked that price yesterday, but buyers worn down to 41s. Demand was almost non-existent in tho finance and pastoral, gas, insurance, meat, shipping, woollen, timber and miscellaneous sections. Holders of Gear Meats .cased their price Is to 30s 6d. Union Steam, preference, were Id down at 20s 7d. Breweries wore very weak. New Zealands oasetl to 255, 6ollers coming down to 25s 9d. Staples were wanted at 225, sellers easing to 22s 9d.
