WOODVILLE, Nov. 24. On Tuesday evening St. Andrew’s Bible Class concluded the year with a social. The evening was spent in games, musical items, ping pong and competitions, the winners boing Miss IJ. Hutchinson and Miss J. Mclntosh. Opportunity was taken by Mr Ralph Hutching, on behalf of the members, to present Rev. Mr Stevenson with a small gift in appreciation of ail ho had done for them, and expressing regret at his impending departure. Rev. Mr Stevenson presented Mrs A. Hutching, the superintendent of the Sunday school! with a cradle roll from the Bible class. On Wednesday evening, the third of a series of billiard and snooker matches between the Woodvillc and Pahiatua Returned Soldiers was played. Each team had a previous win to its credit, but in the final match Pahiatua easily accounted for Woodvillc by six games to two. A team of cuehro players ulso made the trip and wero defeated by nino games to eight. After tho games supper was served, when Mr South, on behalf of the Pahiatua players. thanked the Woodville men for arranging tho series. Mr W. Galbraith returned thanks on behalf of tho Woodville R.S.A. Detailed results are as follow, Pahiatua players being mentioned first: Billiards: Hunt, beat Maclcie, 150—123; Pearcy bent Young. 100—72: Bowden lost to Isherwood, 78 —100; Boyens beat Cross, 100—98. Snooker: Hunt beat Mackie. 55 —35; Boyens lost, to Cross, 38—39; Pearcy beat Young, 63 —11; Bowden beat Isherwood, 53 —37. At tho school examinations conducted at the Woodville District High School during this wook, 51 pupils sat for proficiency, 43 boing successful, while seven gained competency. There was a fair attendance at the quarterly meeting of the Loyal Woodville Lodge, M.U. N.G. Bro. J. J. Mabey presided. Tho election of officers for tho 1 ensuing term resulted :—Noble Grand, Bro. J. T. Homo; Vice-Grand, Bro. J. E. Richards; elective secretary, Bro. R. C. Foreman: Guardian, Bro. A. It. Mabey; Warden, Bro. 11. R. Teague. A committee was set up to finalise arrangements for tho annual Christmas tree function for members’ children which is to be held on December 19. It was decided that the Lodge enter a team for the tug-o’-war contest to be hold in connection with the next Woodville A. and P. Show.
