FALSE ADVERTISEMENTS.
PENALTIES IN VICTORIA. Received November 24, 8.5 a.m. MELBOURNE, Nov. 24. The Legislative Council passed a 'Bill providing heavy penalties for printing or publishing false advertisements or displaying them on any kind of hoarding or building. The Bill safeguards newspaper proprietors, and it also provides that private persons cannot launch prosecutions without the consent of the law officers.
