Dawson and Co., Ltd., declare that the London wool sales opened in the healthiest condition of the year. The quantities available are moderate and most of the old fine grades have been cleared. There is a hopeful outlook for crossbreds, they add, due to the demand for knitted goods. The consumption is still at the highest level for a decade and combing mills in every centre are running day and night. Mast of the spinning mills are working full hours.

CONTINUATION OF SALES. OPENING RATES"MAINTAINED. Received November 24, 12 noon. LONDON, Nov. 23. At the wool sales 9978 bales were offered, including, 3310 from New Zealand, and about 8480 were sold. There was a good general competition and Yorkshire buyers were more active. Prices were fully at the opening rates. Slipes were slightly in sellers’ favour. New Zealand slipe halfbred lambs branded Kaiapoi sold at io-.i (ion price) the average being 103 d; scoured combings, Braemar, 19c. and 17id. Brokers’ reports on the sale appear on page 5.
