FREEZING WORKS DISPUTE.

CONSIDERATION BY WATERSIDERS. Per Press Association. WELLINGTON, Nov. 24. A stop-work meeting of Wellington watersiders to discuss the freezing workers’ dispute as affecting the Wellington watersiders lasted from 8 a.m. to 12.30 p.m. to-day. The meeting was not open to the Press. Mr Cox, president of the union, afterwards said that nothing regarding the result would be released for publication until after a meeting of the executive this afternoon. FARMERS TO LOAD MEAT AT GISBORNE. Per Press Association. GISBORNE, Nov. 24. Work proceeded quietly on the waterfront this morning, wool and butter being loaded into the Port Dunedin by union labour. It is understood the meat from the freezing works will be handled this afternoon, a number of farmers having arrived in town ready to load their produce. FARMERS LOADING AT GISBORNE. Per Press Association. GISBORNE, Nov. 24. Thirty farmers and farmers’ • sons commenced work, this afternoon on loading 2200 freight carcases of moat into lighters for transhipment to the Port Dunedin in the roadstead. Wool and butter had previously been loaded by the watersiders, who had intimated their unwillingness to work the meat owing to the fact that the Port Dunedin’s Wellington meat cargo was loaded by non-union labour. It is expected that farmer labour will complete the loading and transhipment by 10 o’clock to-night. The younger volunteers welcome the opportunity of earning extra money. The unionists gave little attention to the volunteer party, but individuals displayed some warmth in debating the fact that no call was made for union labour this afternoon to handle the meat.
