GOLD AND NOTE COVERAGE. Received November 24, 11.10 a.m. OTTAWA, Nov. 23. Canada has no intention of abandoning gold coverage for its paper money, Hon. R. B. Bennett announced in the House of Commons. Since 1929 Canada has technically not been on the gold standard but covers with gold its notes. Canada has a statutory 25 per cent, coverage for the first fifty million dollars in Dominion notes and dollar for dollar above that. This coverage will be ‘maintained.
