OBITUARY.

MR H. J. G. HEINE. Deep regret will be felt by many residents of Palmerston North and the surrounding district at the sudden passing this morning of Mr Henry J. G. Heine, of Union Street. Mr Heine, who had been under the doctor for some time, was proceeding to his work this morning when he suddenly collapsed. He was conveyed to the Palmerston North Hospital immediately, hut passed away before he could be admitted from heart failure.

Mr Heine, who was aged 49 years, was born in Nelson and had resided in various parts of the North Island. Shortly after his marriage about 8 years ago he came to Palmerston North to reside and entered the employ of the Manawatu Meat Company. For some time he was on the staff of tho Kairanga Meat Company’s shop, later proceeding to the Featherston Street West Shop. Some four years ago Mr Heine was appoinetd to manage the Excelsior Meat Shop at tho corner of ltangitikei and Cuba Streets and was acting in that capacity at the time of his unexpected passing. Mr Heine was well-known in bowling circles, having been a member of the Terrace End Club for some years. Last season he joined the Palmerston North Club of which he was a popular member. His quiet, unassuming nature and genial personality won him many friends. He was playing on the Palmerston North green yesterday afternoon and his sudden death comes as a shock" to club members, He was also a member of the Druids’ Lodge. Mr Heine leaves a widow to mourn his passing, there mg no family.
