FAT LAMBS.

EXPORT COMPETITION. Entries have come forward freely in the Manawatu district for the competition for fat lambs for export, and it is anticipated that the total will equal that of last year, when 40 were obtained from Manawatu and a similar number from Feilding. This year, however, entries from the two districts are being taken separately. Each dntry consists of a pen of three lambs, with.a limit for any one person to two entries. The Manawatu entries will be slaughtered at the Longburn freezing works next Wednesday, and prizes awarded by the local A. and P. Association. Afterwards, the best 1-5 pens will be frozen and sent Home to the market at Smitlifield, to be judged in competition with entries from other parts of the Dominion. For the latter judging, prizes will be provided by the Meat Producers’ Board and there will also bo challenge shields for the North and South Islands donated by the board. The entry from Manawatu was last year successful in winning the shield for the North Island.
