GARRISON BAND DANCE.

Although the Garrison Band Hall has the largest dancing floor in Palmerston North with one exception, it seemed scarcely large enough to hold the huge numbers that congregated there on Monday night when the fortnightly dance of the hand was held. Well over 100 couples were present and extra seating accommodation hail to be provided for the visitors. The floor, which was in splendid order, and the excellent music of the orchestra., contributed to the enjoyment of the evening. Mr Thomson and Mr M. Creighton played several extras which were loudly encored. The Monte Carlo was won by Mr Alltree and partner, and the lucky spot by Mr Cowlishaw and partner. That patrons were enjoying themselves was very evident from the large number of requests to extend the dance until 1 a.m. and dancing continued until that hour. The manner in which the arrangements for such a large number of patrons were carried out reflect great chedit on the committee. A dainty supper was served, while an ice cream and soft drink stall helped to keep the dancers cool. The duties of M.CVb were in the capable hands of Messrs J. Henry, D. Winks and G. Booker.
