MEAT KILLING SEASON.

WELLINGTON COAIPANIES’ DECISION. Per Press Association. WELLINGTON, Nov. 23. It is stated authoritatively that, according to the present indications, the Wellington Aleat Export Company’s Ngahauranga works will commence killing some time next week and if the former employees do not turn up free labour will be engaged. A similar statement was made on behalf of the Gear Company. Normally each of these works employs about 100 slaughtermen. LOADING AT LYTTELTON. Per Press Association. CHRISTCHURCH, Nov. 23. The watersiders responded to a call for labour at Lyttelton this morning and proceeded to load 12,000 carcases of meat on the Karamea. The meat was killed last season under the old award, and it is understood that the men received instructions last night that loading should proceed. The operations were carried out without a sign of trouble. The Karamea leaves to-morrow for New Plymouth. FARAIERS TO HELP LOAD AIEAT. Per Press Association. WANGANUI, Nov. 23. Twenty-five members of the executive of the Wanganui branch of the New Zealand Farmers’ Union, including the president, Air T. Currie, are assisting in loading meat aboard the liner Tasmania.
