GENERAL FORECAST. An anti-cyclone still covers the Dominion, its centre having crossed the northern districts yesterday. The depression situated over » South-Eastern Australia has intensified somewhat. Northerly winds, moderate generally at first, but gradually increasing in force. Seas rather rough about Cook and Foveaux Straits; elsewhere smooth to moderate in New Zealand waters. Moderate to strong northerly winds in the eastern Tasman Sea, with rather rough seas. Weather fair to fine and warm generally, but still some.scattered showers in the far south and soon clouding over in western districts, with rain gradually developing.

DISTRICT REPORT. SQUALLY WEATHER PREDICTED. The Government meteorologist telegraphed to-day : —The indications are for northerly winds, strong to gale. The weather will probably prove squally and changeable and conditions will be showery. The barometer is falling slowly. MANAWATU RIVER GAUGE. Noon. —Ift 6ins.
