AUSTRALIAN CRICKETERS

ARRIVAL IN NEW ZEALAND.

Per Press Association. WELLINGTON, Sept. 18

The Australian cricketers who have been touring Canada and United States arrived by the Monowai to-day and will play a match here to-morrow. When interviewed, the captain, V-. R. Richardson, said the tour was mainly a goodwill visit and he felt the side had succeeded in its mission. Questioned as the coming Tests with England, Richardson thought an excellent side could be selected from England’s chosen seventeen. As a result of the American tour, nil the Australians were likely to oe chosen at the top of their form. All had enjoyed a good rest on the voyage. A remarkable demonstration of hero w-orship occurred when Bradman, accompanied by friends, left the Monowai to enter waiting motor cars. He was immediately surrounded by a large crowd, which flocked around and walked with him as closely as possible. People at vantage positions along the route hoisted children so that they could get a glimpse of the famous batsman. A big crowd clustered around the car, which.eventually moved off through rows of cheering admirers. Bradman regarded the demonstration with complete serenity, smiling broadly.
