THE WEATHER
GENERAL FORECAST.
Pressure is still high to the east of New Zealand, but an irregular shallow depression covers the Tasman Sea. Moderate to strong north-east to north winds, reaching gale force in the far north. Seas rough north of East Cape; elsewhere smooth to moderate in New Zealand waters. Moderate to strong north-east to north-west winds in the eastern Tasman Sea, and moderate to rather rough seas. Weather still fair in most districts with mild temperatures, but scattered rains likely in the Auckland province and in western'and southern portions of the South Island.
DISTRICT REPORT
HEAVY RAIN FORECAST,
The Government meteorologist wired to-day:—The indications are for variable and moderate breezes after about ten hours of south-easterly winds, moderate to strong. Expect dull weather with much mist and fo" in parts. Rain is probable and will be heavy in places. The barometer will be falling slowly shortly and then rising.
