ANNUAL DANCE.
KELVIN GROVE CLUBS.
A very pleasant and successful evening was held in the Cosmopolitan Hall night, when the Kelvin Grove Springboks and Basketball Clubs held their annual dance. Mrs Mercer a.nd Mrs Shepherd were the chaperones tor the occasion. The committee responsible for the success of the function were Misses F. Jones (hon. sec.) wearing blue satin, with pink coat; M. Mercer, cerise velvet and emerald green, M. Benton, blue georgette; B. Woodd, flame satin; Messrs A. R. Mercer (hon. sec.), J. McLaren and H. Scott. Between dances a ticket was drawn for the iced cake presented to the clubs by Mrs Mercer and Mrs Burr, the winner being Mr D. H. Buchanan, Kelvin Grove. Dancing was kept in full swing until the supper interval when Mr Mercer was called upon to sneak. He stated how pleasing it was to see such a large attendance a-: the initial dance, and he expressed the wish that there would be many more to follow. He also touched on the success of the teams. A very pleasant feature was the presentation of a medal to the most improved Rugby player, Mr Peter Reid, donated by Mr I. Baldwin. Both tho donor and recipient were cheered. Mr J. W. White, secretary of the M.R.F.U., tvas then asked to present the cups to J. McLaren (captain) and in a neat speech congratulated the team on their success. The captain suitably replied. The Monte Carlo dance was won by Miss Pye and Mr Eaton, and Miss Jones and partner won the lucky spot. Messrs A. It. Mercer and H. Benton wmre the M.C.’s g.nd carried out their duties in an efficient manner. Excellent music was supplied by a professional orchestra. Those present were: —Mrs R. Woodd, red satin; Mrs Benton, black marocain ; Misses Cook, blue satin; Eaton, rose pink satin; Mrs Radomski. floral georgette; Misses E. Woodd, cyclamen lace; G. Pye, floral georgette; M. Radomski. black satin; B. Radomski, pink satin; L Hughes, red satin; J. Scorran, black lace; W. W'agstaff, lemon lace; M. Harland, blue satin; D. Waller, rose crepe satin; M. Townsend, cream taffeta; R- Holmes, Pavlova velvet and lace; J. Graham, cherry georgette; E. Sinclair, blue satin ; N. Liters, Mack ; G. Dorn, green floral taffeta; V. Wolfbauer, coral satin; L. Peart, bluo satin; N. Williams, sea green satin; E. Prentice, black marocaine; M. Foss, floral ninon; R. Clark, mauve georgette; A. Clark, floral taffeta; J. Scott,’ flame satin and black bridge coat; W. Carter, pink satin; I. Neville, floral velvet; I. Terry, primrose taffeta ; E. Robinson, rosebud taffeta; M. Dorn, emerald green satin; G. \mies, black and white velvet; J. Benton, pink taffeta and georgette coatee; J. Raleigh, pink satin; J. Gray pink satin; and many others.
