SELECTON OF BOWES

LONDON, Sept. 13. Lord Tennyson, the well-known cricketer, has abandoned for private reasons, his visit to Australia. The papers urged that Bowes be selected as tho seventeenth man for Australia to replace Duleepsinliji. Gilligan said: “The selectors must be impressed by his continued magnificent performances. He has been running through most of the opposing sides for six weeks. Ho nearly always dismisses the first four batsmen. He went through the Rest of England as though they were a minor county.” Official: Bowes has accepted an invitation to accompany the M.C.C. team to Australia. This completes the team.
