RONGOTEA.

RONGOTEA, Sept. 13. On Saturday evening- a very happy event took place at the residence of Mr and Mrs L. H. Noel, of Rongotea, it being tlie eoming-of-age of their only daughter. Edna. Upwards of 60 young people, with a few elders, attended, and many tokens of goodwill were presented to the guest of honour. Songs. instrumental items, and parlour games were the. order of tlie evening. Later, a dainty' supper was served and a handsome birthday cake, made and decorated by Mrs H. Rowe, presented a happy setting in tlie midst, of tlie joyous company. At a suitable juncture. Mr J. C. Glover proposed rhe health of the guest of the evening. This was followed by Mr 11. Rowe, whose references to tlie host and hostess, as well a-s to the guest, were of a very cordial nature. Mr James Hunt had some glowing remarks to add on behalf of the Sunday School, of which Miss Noel is organist. and Mr Cliff Saxton, on behalf of rhe young people, expressed the eood wishes of tiie company he represented. To these and other tokens of appreciation Mr Noel fittingly replied.
