AN APPEAL.
(To the Editor), i Sir, —May I appeal through your columns for assistance for destitute single men of this city. The Unemployment Board lias refused work to all single men till they go into camps that the Wairarapa men have refused to enter. The local Unemployment Committee, headed by Mr Nash, have given a lead by refusing to send men to camp and will resign if this harsh decree is enforced. Meanwhile, the single men are to starve if the citizens do not come forward with donations of food or cash. A Relief Workers' Committee, on which are several ladies, was formed at a public meeting and is now assisting several single men with food and shelter. Our appeal goes out to those who are not in agreement with the Unemployment Board's decision in its treatment of singlo men. Funds are needed and those citizens who are willing to assist should get in touch with the single men's relief committee at the Workers' Hall, Jersey Lane, Mr Lambarth, Crand Hotel Hairdressing Saloon, or ring telephone 5484. —1 am, etc., S. JARVIS. I Organiser. Botanical Road.
