PERSONAL.
A London cablegram states that the Duke of Connaught entertained Mr W. M. Hughes, the veteran Australian statesman, at luncheon. Mr Edward Smith, president of the Pharmacy Board of New Zealand, has returned from Sydney, where he represented the board at the Pharmaceutical Conference. Constable H. Colo, who has been a member of the Police Force at Palmerston North for 15 years, for the last seven years of which he has been arms officer, retired to-day on superannuation.
