(From Our Own Correspondent.) SHANNON, Sept. 13. On the golf links on Saturday afternoon the September medal competition was won by C. Cave (men) and Mrs C. Cronquest (ladies). Tho junior Handicap cup (men) was won by 1,. J. Mark. On Monday afternoon the local ladies played a team from Foxton, and were successful in winning the match, after some most enjoyable games. Blyth, C. Stern, McKenzie, 11. Stern, Morgan, Ventry-Smith, Campbell, Hennessey, Pope, Goodwin, Stovenson, Whyte, Bovis, Taylor, G. Smith, Blackwood, McLean, Mark, Cave and Curran, will represent Shannon against Palmerston Nortli at Shannon next Saturday. A team of local ladies, including Mrs Morgan, Mrs Ventry-Smith, Miss Easton, Mrs Bovis, Mrs Mark, Miss Bayly, Mrs Cronquest, Mrs Easton and Mrs Elvines, will journey to Palmerston North to meet tho Palmerston North ladies on tho To Matai links.
Mr F. Thurston, of the Bank of New Zealand, leaves on Thursday on leave. Mr J. Bell will be relieving him. Mr R. Sands, who has beon ail inmate of the Palmerston North Hospital for some weeks, returned home on Saturday, but, it, will bo some time yet. before lie will bo able to walk without crutches. Rev. A. Stewart and Mrs Stewart, of Apiti, are visiting their daughter, Mrs J. Alexander.
