LEAGUE OF NATIONS.

GERMAN PAYMENT REFUSED

A report from Geneva says that the Secretary-General of the League of Nations refused to accept a bank deposit of £26,936 as part payment of Germany’s dues because the bank received instructions that the League was only to be allowed to withdraw the money if it was going to bo spent on German goods, presumably materials, lor the new headquarters of the League.

There are now 24 nations in arrears with League contributions. The British Empire is paying one-fifth of the cost of the new building, but only one small contract for it, for library fittings, has gone to Britain.
