PERSONAL.

Rev. J. Gibb, D.D., of "Wellington, is visiting Palmerston North for a few days and is the guest of Mr R. L. C. Aitcheson, Church Street.

Mr F. Mason, of Feilding, has been appointed judge of the narcissi section at the Wanganui Horticultural Society’s spring flower show. Count Bailleti Latour, a distinguished Belgian nobleman, and president of the International Olympic Council, will arrive at Auckland by the Mariposa early next week. He will remain in New Zealand until October 4, when be will leave for Australia. The consecration of Rev. W. H. Baddelcy, of South Bank, Yorkshire, as Bishop of Melanesia, will take place at St. Mary’s Cathedral, Auckland, on St. Andrew’s Day, November 30. The new bishop is expected to arrive at Auckland on November 28.

Mr J. K. Ross Duggan, who has been appointed editor of Canadian Trade Abroad, a new Toronto publication, was, until he left for the war, a teacher at Berhampore School, Wellington. He was also an officer of D Battery. At the conclusion of the war, Mr Duggan went to the United States.

At a meeting this week of the Linton School Committee, Mr J. M. Murdoch, who lias been headmaster at the school for the past 15 years, stated that he had decided to resign and to enter into retirement. Members of the committee expressed regret at Mr Murdoch’s decision and wished him happiness in his retirement.
